one of my early experiments with mixing colour and Black and white. Maybe I should have tried to remove the clutered background?

I think this is very effective.
Good PP.
Kids are busy so I don't think the busy BG is a worry.
You have used the natural lighting well.

:)

This is a very nice one!! Its a shot where you can see she is totally involved in her stuff. The clutter isnt that bad according to me because I hardly noticed it till I read you note. What catches your attention most is the colours on her pallette and her zeal ...
BTW, Welcome to TL.
Lakshmi

Hi Gareth,
The selective desaturation works very well for this photo.
IMO, the background provides elements for this photo and takes nothing away from it.
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers!
~Ashish

Magic shot!
Well done, Gareth.

The result is very nice.. this shot is full of softness. I like this very much
The little seems very concentrate, it is cute.

Very nice picture, the black and white give a calm look and the colors seems to appear in the ind and imagination of the little girl. Beautiful! Maybe that like you said, the background could be less visible it would accentuate the attention on the subject.

I think the Clutered background is fine doesn't take anything from the picture, it's a great picture and a great idea.I really like it, i think it's appropriate too 'cause when we are kids, you dont see the dull colours of life, just the nice pretty bright ones!!

well done thanks for sharing!!!

- Mom! Dad! Come?
- What is it dear?
- Painting some colors.
- But i told you that colors dont exist...
- Yes there is red, blue, yellow...
- No it's a story for kids! It's a fiction !

:o)
Children are good to invent world that only them, can see. The way you focus colors in art... bring me that think. I like it. Very natural portrait! Great one!

The background is fine. WOnderful example of mixing black and white with colors. Nice submission.

Hello Gareth,

I like your composition. Very interessting BW combined with natural shining colour spots.
Well done.

Very beatiful. I love the soft B&W tones and how they contrast with the strength of the painting colours. I just wish the girl would be brighter in comparison with the window, the window in the top corner attracts to much attention. Just a minor detail in a lovely photo.

I like your experiment, it's a very good shot. Your model seems to be a very professional painter.
Well done
Paolo

Oh no! the background is what makes it all the more interesing. Keep it exactly how it is. This shot is superb...

wonderful light coming in from the garden. The little girl (your daughter?) absorbed in her work. Ther is so much to look at in this image. It is as though the young artist has sooooo much inspiration to draw from.

Obviously the use of colour in the low contrast B&W is the main theme, but I see so much more than this. I see the blissful existance of youth, and the budding growth of artistry (hers, not yours), just kidding, this is a shared moment of you sharing your art with her and vice versa.

Wonderful image.

FRAME IT, PUT IT ON YOUR WALL FOR ALL TO SEE. IT'S GREAT

Take Care,

Lance

Very nice photo Gareth, lovely.Regards..

Ajoutée dans mes favori, rien de plus ŕ dire !!!

The background is fine. The colour has made ot very easy to focus on the main subject.

Really well executed. I like this very much.

I wouldn't change a thing. It is perfect just the way it is, including the cluttered background. This is a pure daily life shot, and one day this will be a heritage shot. Good job with partial desaturation. Everything wonderful, composition, lighting and composition. I only wish I had some points left. This will go to my favourites theme.

wouaw, great!!!!
i always like BW mixed with colours, and cannot do it by myself for the moment (only begin with Adobe); really fabulous picture!!!

What an awesome shot! Selective color was the best possible choice for this picture... I like this girl's facial expression. I can tell she is focused on what she's doing. Nicely captured and executed. Best wishes!

Hi Gareth,
Very good photo. The face of the kid are very expressive and the cluttered background goes well with the child enviroment: in fact it do not matter to her, perhaps just to you.

As a personal experiment, I'll try with the window vision in colour too, to remark how human concentrate intensely to trap Nature.

Hi Gareth,

For one, this picture is beyond perfect the way it is! A child is rarely neat, and this picture represents the nature of a child, so it should be as it is!

Second, the lighting is quite dramatic. The fact that she's sitting infront of the window gives the photo a very natural feeling to it, only artificial thing to this photo would be the paints she's using. :)

And lastly, this is simply one of the best versions of black and white with colour photos I've ever seen! It's so unique and innocent, I just adore it! I think I'm going to be one of the many and add this to my favourites.

Because she just seems like the Daddie's little girl, with her cute little pig-tails and the tiny flowers on her shirt, and all this found in a work-shed, it's all just too sweet.

Biance.

Great idea:)

You both are great artist.

When a child imagines something, his/her world becomes colorful.
An amazing idea, very well realized.
