Those of you under 45 will probably not remember the 1960 (now cult) tv series The Prisoner where a ex-agent was held in a village where everything was perfect. He just had to submit to this. Escape was frowned upon on and if he tried to escape along the beach he was pursued by enormous white balloons.

When I saw this view I was at once reminded of The Prisoner and saw a contrast between an idylic (if modern) country scene and a thereatening image of the hay bales moving towards me like an army.

The sky was bland and grey so I added a little bit of 60s colour for fun and thied to angle the fade line to match the angle of the shadows and to emphasise the bales just coming over the horizon....Contrast and saturation have been boosted.

Great photo, I love it, I have some Fields near by and they have just cut the crops and I have been wanting to post a picture for some time.... anyways your sky is great well done...... it worked well.. great picture great pov.. well done!

I believe I know this serie; wasn't the man involved not called "number 4"?
However; this picture is splendid; I always feel the mood of loneliness with these packed rolls. Your colours make it a happy artificial mood.
Perfect lioht and shadows.
Very good picture; for me a favorite.
Thanks Gareth.

I AM NOT A NUMBER !
Nice picture, I like the focus and colours (except the sky) are very interresting. For the sky, the post-process is excelent but colours are too hard for me...

Hi Gareth,

OK it is tricked but still a great shot!
And I do remember thos big wite balloons.

Hendrik

So crisp love the sky. After reading your notes the bailes are chasing me Help!!!!!!!!!!! ;-)

Bien vu, Gareth, j'aime beaucoup l'idée du Prisonnier et des ballots de pailles qui remplacent les grands ballons …
Félicitations !!!
Antonio

very nice photo...
I find this picture beautiful, although I did not see the film.
only a small remark:
the branch, which is to be seen on the top right, makes the picture too material??

have nice day....

Gareth good evening. These enormous white balloons form a beautiful symmetry in this a little surrealist color. Beautiful work. JP

I saw this picture a couple of times in the gallery. Finally it clicked it. I am still not sure. I just like the idea of the photo. I like manipulation a lot. Still not sure. 1 pnt

Interesting picture! I remember very well that fantastic tele series on the Prisoner with MacGowan? Nice neat image! Well seen! Michel

I like your image of the advancing hay bales, and the unusual colours you have added. I well remember the series "The Prisoner" with Patrick McGoohan which was filmed in North Wales at Port Meirion. A very beautiful place actually, I went there once. Good composition with a definite feeling of invasion of the hay bales. LOL!

A very nice picture Gareth, the colors are marvelous. With the sky like this is better to see it grey. About The Prisoner, it was one of my favorite.
Best regards
Guy

I love it! Just love it! Nothing more to say!

Cheers
Carla

Great photo, i wonder if the colours of the sky are real?
Excellent job, regards..

Excellent composition and usual colours make this a surreal image. Almost science fiction like. It looks as if the bails of hay are invading the landscape. Perfect note for this creation.

Fantastic shot Gareth !
and the Actor in that Tv series was:
Patrick McGoohan .. yes it was great ( than )
Later he played also in:
Escape from Alcatraz (1979) .... the Warden

TFS to your photo

Bye
John

CAndy Coated sky!!! Care bears feeling to it!
Love it!

I don't know abt those rolls on the field.. is it hay?!
it gives more eccentric detail to it! :p

Again wonderfull!!
superb colours, good compo and POV!

Greast composition and colors. I know what you mean. Sometimes you want to do something to liven up photos with grey skys. I should try color. I usually just change the photo into Black and White and do some burning and didging of the sky to make it more interesting, but your way of using color is great as well.

Regards,

Tom

Hi Gareth
Explendid photo! I do not imagine how it would be with original sky color but the efect you have got is mysterious.
José Miguel

Very nicely composed photo!! Might be improved by cloning out the tree in the upper right corner...otherwise its perfect!! Thanks for sharing,
